College friends, Alison (Sparrow) Meyer from
Crestwood, KY, and Ashley (Woodfin) Backer of
Murfeesboro, TN, sparked by a common interest in
jewelry, created Two Chicks and Company Jewelry
and Gifts in January 2001. Initially, Two
Chicks only offered "home-show" jewelry parties
and fundraisers across KY and TN. In November
2003, Two Chicks opened its first store at 124
Southland Drive, in Lexington, KY, operating as
a seasonal boutique and by appointment. As the
popularity of the Two Chicks' fun shopping
atmosphere and its unique gifts grew so did the
demand for a year-round retail presence and a
second location.
In
March 2005, Barbara Sparrow, Paula Jackson, and
Karen Mayes -- two retired teachers and a
retired government employee reunited with her
former teacher, all of Oldham County, KY- joined
Two Chicks and opened a store in Louisville to
accommodate an expanding customer-base and by
2006, the Lexington store was a year-round
operation. Recently, Two Chicks moved its
Louisville storefront to 12121 Shelbyville Road,
between Paul's Fruit Market and The Cheddar Box
Cafe, in Middletown, KY.
Two
Chicks is committed to providing its customers a
fun shopping experience, with quality jewelry,
handbags and accessories, unique gifts, and home
and garden accents, at affordable prices. In
October 2005, Two Chicks was recognized by The
Courier-Journal – KY’s largest newspaper – as
one of Louisville’s newest “Hip Shops.”
In
keeping with its tradition, Two Chicks continues
to give back to the community by offering
various fundraising opportunities. Over the
years, Two Chicks has helped raise funds for
organizations such as Metro United Way, Fund for
the Arts, American Cancer Society, the Leukemia
and Lymphoma Society, Visually Impaired
Preschool Services, Deaf Youth Ministries, and
numerous school and church groups. Two Chicks’
fundraising is fun and easy!
